A Statement Utter By An Educator - 899 Words

It is not a statement utter by an educator in public, but rather it is a belief that is head and expressed during faculty meetings, in the teachers, lounge, and even with an intimate partner. Can all children learn? The question stems from our--the educators-- stress level of what education is. in the ideological word that allowed us the opportunities to pursue this career, never was it mentioned that education was not what we thought it was. At the end of the day, even at the best schools, we still question, Are they getting anything out of it? Education is not a lecture, a study guide, and/or a test. Education is the process to grow and build the whole student into a scholar. Education is used to imbue students with choice and opportunity, but I fear that we--as educators-- forget that those choices and those opportunities are not ours to make. All children can learn, and all children can grow and progress. Not all children will pursue university, but all children will learn if th ey are given the space that encourage them to explore their own beliefs and the trust from their teachers to do so with fear of humiliation. In many facets of education, districts and school leaders have been trying to determine the best practices for moving and improving their students. NCLB and Common Core have lead way from a testing and data driven school to a more focused and clean progress machine that hopefully helps individual students improve and grow.
